Six gentle weeks · The 6-Week Guided Implementation Roadmap

Six gentle weeks: a guided program for fairer chores

Simple versionRead the full program

Six weeks, one small step a week, in order. Do it on your own or with anyone you share a home or a load with. Missing a week is fine: pick up anywhere.

New here? Start with Week 0: a five-minute welcome. What the six weeks are, how long they take, what to have ready, and one small thing to do now.

Do this week’s pages Add the six weeks to my calendar

“This week’s pages” opens each week’s fill-ins in order, with a “Done for this week” button and one summary of all six weeks you can save as a PDF. What you type stays on this device.

  1. Week 1: See the work that’s already happening.

For one week, jot down who does what. Just notice. No fixing yet, and no sharing yet.

    Go deeper: week 1

Read the Preface and Chapter I. Before any hard talks, check how you are doing with Today’s Weather. Then log a week of who does what in “Who did what”, a simple daily log.

    The full week 1: foundation

  2. Week 2: Give every job one owner.

Name one owner for each regular job, so nothing is left vaguely shared.

    Week 2’s page →

    Go deeper: week 2

Read Chapter II. Use “One owner per job” to give each regular job one owner. Then get a first read on whether the split can last from “Is the setup working for everyone?”.

    The full week 2: ownership

  3. Week 3: Notice how much each of you is carrying.

A short stress check, each day for a week. Look for patterns, not blame.

    Week 3’s page →

    Go deeper: week 3

Read Chapters III and IV. Use “How much are you carrying?” each day. Look for who is carrying more, and when stress runs high.

The full week 3: the numbers

  4. Week 4: Talk about it kindly.

Turn a raw reaction into a clear, kind ask, and agree on a pause line on a calm day.

    Week 4’s pages →

    Go deeper: week 4

Learn to hear what someone means apart from how it came out. “Say it so it lands” helps you turn a raw reaction into fact, feeling and a clear ask. The Calm-Down Kit is where you agree on your pause line.

If talking about this with the other person feels frightening, not just awkward, please read Safety first before any shared step.

    The full week 4: communication

  5. Week 5: Get back in step.

Try the 90-second daily check-in, at least once.

    Week 5’s page →

    Go deeper: week 5

Notice where your pace differs: one of you may move fast while the other needs time. Try the 90-second daily check-in together at least once. On your own? Try it as a 90-second check-in with yourself.

The full week 5: getting in sync

  6. Week 6: Make it last.

Run the week 1 log again and compare. Then pick one small weekly habit to keep.

    Week 6’s pages →

    Go deeper: week 6

Run Who did what again and compare it with week 1. Separate outside stress, like poor sleep or money worries, from how you share the work. Then choose a simple weekly ritual that keeps you in step without becoming another chore. Turning Toward has ideas.

The full week 6: long-term habits

Prefer paper? All six weeks’ pages come as one PDF you can print or type into, with a summary at the end.
