My weather today: how am I right now?

A mood and energy check-in, also called How am I right now? The full forecast is also called Today’s Weather

What it does: four quick taps, or one minute on your mood, sleep, body and what’s coming up today. What you get: calm, revved up or running on empty, with what helps right now; or today’s full forecast: what today is good for, a good time to talk, and a private log of your patterns if you want one. 20 seconds to a minute

People have inner weather. Some mornings are clear, some are gusty, some are fogged in, and it changes without asking your permission. This is a one-minute reading of today's conditions: the sky, the pressure, the ground underneath, and what's blowing in.

We use weather on purpose. Weather isn't a grade, a diagnosis or a verdict on you, any more than rain is a verdict on a town. Conditions pass. Knowing them just tells you what today is good for, and what to leave until the front moves through.

Check today's weather

Step 1 of 8 · required

The sky

Pick the one closest to true right now. This is a reading of you, never of anyone else. Hard to tell? That's common. Pick the nearest one; you can change it any time.

Where do these three come from? (optional)

They're loosely borrowed from polyvagal theory, a popular idea about the nervous system that researchers still debate, which has its own science names for them. Here they're only everyday words for how you feel, not a measurement of your body: Clear means calm and connected, Gusty means revved up, and Fogged in means running on empty.

Step 2 of 8 optional

Who you'll mostly be around today

Pick one, and the forecast words its advice for them. Any kind of relationship counts.

Step 3 of 8 optional

The pressure

How much were you already carrying before whatever just happened?

Want to score it? How much are you carrying? (WP-02) is a two-minute load check that separates what you already carry from today’s upset.

Step 4 of 8 optional

Ground conditions

The body underneath the mood. Tap anything true today.

Step 5 of 8 optional

Last night's sleep

Roughly. Sleep counts for a lot in this reading, because a short night makes almost everything feel heavier.

Step 6 of 8 optional

People load

How much time with other people has today already asked of you?

Step 7 of 8 optional

What's blowing in

The fronts on the horizon. Tap any that are sitting on you today.

Step 8 of 8 optional

What would actually help in the next hour?

Pick as many as fit. Naming it is most of the work.

Pick the sky in step 1 to begin

Answer step 1 and the forecast fills in. Every extra step sharpens it, and none of them are required.

What this is not. It isn't a diagnosis, a grade or a judgment, and it can't tell you anything about your health. It describes a few hours of conditions, and conditions change. A heavy reading is information about a day, not a failing in a person.
