Who did what this week: a one-week log
What it does: you log who did what at home for one week, the invisible jobs too. What you get: a week’s record to compare, plus three kind ways to say “not right now”. A few minutes a day for a week
A one-week log of who did what at home. Part B, Kind ways to say no, adds simple scripts for saying “not right now” without starting an argument.
-
Write down the week before it turns into a story.
Memories of a busy week blur fast. This sheet gently catches what actually happened. Fill it in together, or each on your own and then compare. Each of you writes only your own side.
Dig deeper: what the log is for -
Each day, log the small jobs too.
For every task, note the day, what it was, who did it, roughly how many minutes, and whether someone asked for it or it was just noticed and handled.
Dig deeper: the 7-day log -
Log what happened, not what should have.
If you noticed the bin three times before taking it out, that is one honest row, not three rows of resentment.
Dig deeper: the honest-row rule -
Say no in three calm steps.
Say why the request is fair. Say honestly what you have left right now. Then offer something instead: another time, another person, or part of the job. That way the other person always has something to go on.
Dig deeper: building your own script -
Pick the kind of “not now” you mean.
You are already full (a capacity check). Someone else is better placed (a delegation pivot). Or you will do it, just later (a time commitment). The sheet has ready-made lines for each.
Dig deeper: the example scripts -
When plans slip, say so kindly.
Said you’d do it and can’t tonight? Running behind, or with a job still half-finished? Acknowledge it, say plainly what you can do, and offer a when.

Try this: Log one ordinary week, each of you on your own sheet. At the end, add up the minutes. Those totals go into the Lemonade Stand quick check and the fair-split calculator.

What’s this?
On the full version and on the PDF, this sheet is called WP-01. It puts one of the site’s Five Pillars (the five big ideas everything here is built on) to work: see the whole load, so the unseen work counts too. Its kind ways to say no use another one: tune how you send and receive.
