CALC-02 · The quick look-back

Look back over 30 daysThe 30-Day Look-Back

What it does: you type in how things were about a month ago, and how they are this week. What you get: a plain read of what shifted, what didn't, and one next step. It reads the setup, never a person. About 5 minutes

Fill in what you have, for 2 to 8 people. Leave out anything you didn't track: each part is read on its own. The numbers can come from your worksheets, or be your best honest guess together.

Kept a few weeks of numbers? The full look-back takes all four weeks, adds up the running imbalance, and can fill itself in from the worksheets kept on this device.

1. Who did what

Each person's hours for one week, from Who did what (WP-01) or the Lemonade Stand. Count the planning and remembering too. Rough is fine: the split is what matters.

2. Last-minute rescues

How many times in a week a job was caught at the last minute, or slipped: the forgotten form, the late dash to the shop. Count them for the whole household, not by person.

Rescues in the week

3. How much each person is carrying

Each person's own score from How much are you carrying? (WP-02): their five 0–4 answers added up and divided by 20. It runs from 0 to 1, and higher means heavier. Everyone fills in their own; nobody guesses for someone else.

4. Does each job have a name?

From One owner per job (WP-03): the regular jobs on your list, and how many of them have an owner.

Your 30 days, in plain words

Fill in at least one part, then and now, to see what shifted.

How it decides what shifted: a part counts as shifted when it moved by at least 0.10 on its 0 to 1 scale (how evenly the hours split, jobs with an owner, load), or by at least 1 rescue a week. Smaller moves count as no shift: one week can be a fluke. The next step goes to whatever moved the wrong way; if nothing did, to the first part still worth a look (jobs without an owner, then uneven hours, then rescues, then a high load). This is a rule-of-thumb worksheet, not a tested model. It only reflects what you enter. Nothing you type here is saved or sent.

CALC-02 puts Pillar I (“See the whole load”) and Pillar II (“Fix the setup, not the person”) to work over a month instead of a week. In you: you see whether what you tried is changing anything. Between you and others: you get one calm picture of the month, never a score on anyone.

It goes with week four of the 6-week program, Your progress, week by week (REPORT-01) and Is the setup working for everyone? (CALC-01).
