Program Overview

Simple versionRead the full overview

How the program fits together: the chapters explain the ideas and the worksheets put them to use. It also says plainly what is built and what isn't yet. Looking for where to begin? See which part of the program to use.

  1. Each chapter in Part Two pairs with a worksheet.

The whole book is free to read: 26 chapters in three parts, and an afterword. In Part Two (the Preface and Chapters I to V), each chapter shares one idea, and its matching workpaper (a worksheet) is where you put it to use. Parts One and Three are about you and about how people work; they end with things to try and links to the tools that fit, rather than one matching worksheet.

  2. A second layer looks at timing and tone.

These tools look at how things are said, not who does how much. Four are built: the 90-second daily check-in, a gentle check-in with no debate; Same moment, different speeds, for when one of you is fast and one is slow; Is it us, or is it everything else?, a one-week stress log; and Keep your little rituals alive, a check every few months on your shared rituals.

  3. Some worksheets feed one number.

Three worksheets (Who did what, How much are you carrying? and One owner per job) feed “Is the setup working for everyone?”, a calculator that gives one read on whether the way you share things can last. Look back over 30 days puts a month side by side: what shifted, what didn’t, and one next step. Others give no score, on purpose.

    Dig deeper: how they connect
  4. Scores are meant to be filled in together.

Each person enters their own side, and nobody guesses for someone else. The scores never use tone of voice, recordings or anyone’s messages. (Tools like the Chat analyzer look at messages you paste in, on your device only, and give no score.) None of it is a validated clinical tool. A number should start a conversation, never end one.

Dig deeper: what it will never use
  5. Only finished pieces are listed.

More may follow; each is added the day it is finished. If this page and the Suite Index ever differ, go with the Suite Index.
